PRACTICAL TIPS
TO
GET GREAT RESULTS:
In
this lesson, we are going to delve deeper into your personal practice
of specific technique that you are using to gain deeper benefits
(that come from the focus of your awareness).
You
are going to be taking full advantage of the fact that where you focus your
awareness, that is where the vital life energy will go.
This
is true of your life...where you focus your awareness, that is where
the energy of your life will flow towards.
What
you focus your thinking on, the thoughts that you think, this will
create the reality that you experience in your life.
For
where you focus your awareness, this is where the life energy will
flow towards.
The
responsibility for your life is in your own awareness...where you
focus your awareness.
The
sticky point is found in the FACT that you will have latent
tendencies that hijack your awareness, and so you find yourself
dwelling on ideas, thoughts, and feelings that are NOT wonderful,
glorious, and imbibing you with a flow of creative energy and
intelligence.
All
I've got for you is this simple, simple technique to apply liberally
and often:
When
you become aware that you are no longer with the focus (whatever that
may be), quietly and gently and easily and simply, come back to the
focus.
And
when you inevitably find yourself off in some other thoughts,
feelings, experience, and you once again become aware that you are no
longer with the focus...right...okay...quietly come back to the
focus.
It
is in this dedication to the discipline of self-awareness that the
driving force of a simple state of awareness gets progressively
enhanced...strengthened...and encouraged.
This
is a process of practice...and by applying yourself with quiet,
simple, easy...NOT forcing your mind...NOT
trying...NOT grunting and groaning with
effort...so, in fact the opposite direction of all that sort of
thing.

HOMEWORK
ASSIGNMENT:
OVER
the next week, you are going to have many, many opportunities to
practice what you are learning from this course on Deep Meditation.
When
you become aware that you are not doing some practice...let your
awareness begin to experience one of the ancient sounds...
...YOU
can entertain the ancient sound in your awareness by barely making a
sound when you use the ancient sound...or...you can let your
awareness experience the ancient sound within the privacy of your
awareness...without moving the throat, mouth, lips, tongue.
This
practice can be done with the eyes open, and while you are doing
something like walking...waiting in a line...driving your
car...sitting on the bus...and so on.
This
practice is NOT meant to replace all forms of your thinking...NO.
You
will quickly find that thoughts and feelings will often trump the
presence of the ancient sound in your awareness.
This
being the case, simply use the moment of being aware that you are no
longer with the ancient sound...to let your awareness be with the
ancient sound.
Now...you
may wonder...why should you bother with such tedium? It
sounds...boring...and stupid...and dumb, and so on.
That
may well be true...that it sounds like a stupid thing to do.
Here's
the thing...by moving with your awareness, and gently guiding your
awareness to a specific focus...you are developing a kind of muscle
that is most often the MOST neglected of attributes that a human
being possesses.
And
this is the awareness of the source of your creativity and
intelligence...essentially, the source of your spirit.
This
is NOT an intellectual exercise...or a memory enhancement
technique...or speed reading...or language training: All of these and
many other practices do help to improve brain function.
But this isn't that...
...This
is the exercise of the awareness of awareness...and it is the most
powerful and fastest way to develop a strong foundation for sustainable personal growth.
HOMEWORK:
- Seated practice of breathing with your belly (5 minutes)
- Seated practice of ancient sound awareness (10 – 20 minutes)
- Seated practice of skill of vital energy from this lesson (5 minutes)
- PLUS: You can practice all of the above while lying down...as you want...if you take a break during the day, or while falling asleep, or when you wake up in the middle of the night, or upon waking in the morning.
- During the day, when you become aware you are no longer with the ancient sound, easily come back to the ancient sound.
NOTE:
It is quite possible that you will not be able to experience the
ancient sound with your awareness for very long during the day, with
eyes open...and that thoughts and feelings and so on will easily take
over...this is normal. We don't fight this...or try to use the
ancient sound to drown out our mind...or beat our mind with the
ancient sound, like a club...to bring our disobedient mind to heel.
NO.
We
bring zero anticipation of specific results...and zero expectations,
too. Be with what comes on its own...no need to TRY and have a
specific experience.
