Can you identify how few people are actively engrossed---gob-smacked by the
clear, crisp power of full-throttle...AWARENESS...of the single most important idea that you can EVER have:
"I can choose what next I think."
Can you name some people that you know...personally know...that are actively
rocking it hard-core with the full-on use of personal choice power...when it comes to
what they think...the thoughts they have in their so-called minds?
Do you know anyone who is thinking their own thoughts?
AND
is NOT like the vast majority of people...maybe even you...
AND
your thoughts are thinking you, and NOT the other way 'round.
Huh?
Yes...that deserves a second helping, doesn't it?
Are you choosing what you will next think?
Or are your thoughts just popping into existence---with very little direct,
active choosing by...you.
So...YOU are thinking thoughts...right?
But how much conscious choice do you really have about what you
have as thoughts...about what you think about...and the thoughts
that you have about whatever it is you think...about.
Whew!
Messing with the power you have that is yours by natural right
BUT
that has been deliberately stunted---and so now lies dormant.
Probably for most people---the work required to waken atrophied psyches
AND acquire the habit of regular practice,
PLUS steer clear of the bandits of progress...the usual suspects,
Then, at last the final filter of the many dwindling into the data pool of the very few
is...
...the work that comes with this...super-normal power.
And that Super Normal Power, Number One---
---Right this now, I can choose what I think.
This most basic and frightening of precepts includes the entire jurisdiction of your much vaunted Free Will.If ever you wanted to be faced with the answer to all the questions and searchings and yearnings and the agonizingly endless parade of Existential Angst---
AND
I am most definitely NOT 'dissing the glorious dread of NOTNESS.
Because, there is---FINALLY---an answer to all the haunting and gaunt-faced
questing...and it is worthily TOUGH to take this answer.
It just leaves NO room to hide.
NO room to squirm around and no quick duck and dodge remains.
What you think next is entirely your own affair. It is...up to you...to decide what you will next think with your mind. What idea will you entertain in the sanctity of your own mind?
Because...it is YOUR mind, is it NOT?
What?
I didn't quite hear your answer to my question.
NOT so sure, are you? That it is YOUR mind?
You can even use your super-normal power to consider the belief system lurking behind every thought that you choose to think. Each thought you have is going to have some sort of belief attached to it.
AND
...attached to each one of the beliefs...usually a sub-set of beliefs.
Let's examine more about this quandary by reading these excerpt from Chapter 13.
What I like so very much about all this stuff is how very much I can take it or leave it, and life keeps swinging along...more or less.
Besides, I am living the life---swanning around here in the glorious and very FREE society of one of the world's Great Democracies. But all of this achievement rests but for a moment on the fleeting soap bubble of temporal impermanence.
So what lies before you as a way of being---this tremendous idea that you can step inside your own mind and begin to deliberately communicate with yourself. And you can do this by asking yourself questions.
And here is one of the most powerful questions to ask yourself:
"What is it that I want to think next?"
Now, I've stumbled across this theme as a series for the next set of articles.
And it is the funny mix of how we think we have FREE WILL, and are able to choose what we do next, and so on...
AND those times when we do or say or think and or feel SOMETHING that we
very much did NOT have control over...or CHOOSE to think, feel, say or do.
All the Best!
