The Difference Factor: The Label Versus The Contents of the Can

OR: What's In A Name?

I don't think I've ever done this before in my articles...where I have taken the time to share parts of an actual dream that I had while I was asleep.

Well, in this article, I am going to do exactly that...er...this.

But before we get to that---let me get going with this next bit, first.

Lately I've been focusing on some names of God from different parts of the Christian deal...and since ALL of the Christian deal in The Holy Bible are rooted in the Jewish deal...it is very interesting to delve deep...back into history...to find out what was what, and when it was what it was, and when did it start to change.

Hey!
Don't get all nervous on me.
I know that the word "history" when applied to The Holy Bible can make a lot of my Christian readers start to get a bit edgy. By now you know that I deal from the ENTIRE deck of cards, and NOT just from the Born Again Fundamentalist If'n You Don't Believe In Jesus---You're Going To Hell!

So...what's up with the tug-of-war over these words?
Like religious versus spiritual?

IF you take a few moments and read the actual meaning of the two words, you're gonna notice how complimentary they are to each other...and the word "spiritual" is NOT this force feeding of a New Age agenda coached in the spilling smoke of...gasp...The Enemy.

See, it doesn't hurt to open your mind to ideas that might conflict with the implants forced inside your brain by people who have their own agenda that they want to dominate your own capacity to decide for yourself.

The dirty trick of taking a word or term and making it wrong-headed or dripping with the taint of belonging to "them," and please, please---please notice how "them" are ALWAYS the bad guys...interchangeable with "they," and ALWAYS "them" and "they" are going to corrupt, mislead, screw with your mind...and jeopardize your place with the chosen few...the ones who believe correctly, the way "WE" do.

It's "us" and "them."

And this penetrates my own hide-bound prejudice towards people who think that the world was created six-thousand years ago (or thereabouts) because The Holy Bible says it's so.

I've got a thing about mixing literal interpretation from a sacred set of scripture with the agenda of willful ignorance to keep people bound to a sect that enforces dogma and restricted experience of God's Holy Word.

And I've got a thing about denying scholarly research into the actual-factual known history that pertains to specific chronology of the stories found in, for example, The Holy Bible.

Sure...some of the archaeology might NOT agree with the time-lines that have been constructed by fire-breathing, devout, born-again Christians...you know...that substantiate the made-up version of when, say, King David was doing his thing with the giant, Goliath.

And wait now...just hang on to your crucifix there Good Buddy...I LOVE The Holy Bible...and read the darn thing...and I mean read it...in both Español AND English...so if'n I seem to be taking liberties with YOUR particular belief system revolving around the Christian deal...well, I am.

I think that more than anything what I am doing is wanting to deconstruct the rabid and voluptuous hate-ta-fa-cation that creeps in to the sermons I've heard over the decades from the various factions that have co-opted The Holy Bible, and selectively decanted their brew of exclusion and intolerance and...well, gone against the grain of Lord Christ Jesus.

Right...and now, about that dream I had the other night.
Yeah, I'd eaten way too much before I went to sleep...so I was digesting several bowling balls of food through the night. And after the part of the night that is called "nabhaswan," AKA, "the stirring of creation," I was given this dream sequence while I rode the astral planes.

And yes, it was one of those dreams where I did not know that I was dreaming...but the dream was vivid enough to be remembered when I woke up...and even now, days later...I have the pertinent part of this dream locked in my memory.

That's the way it goes with some dreams. Perhaps you know what I mean?
(Click on this video to see example of flying side kicks)

I want you to know about this tendency in all of us to judge a book by it's cover...and how we are so easily manipulated by our own inner convictions about what something is by the way it looks...on the outside.

This mistake of false knowing is tied up in the thorny problem of name-and-form.
(I will be dissecting this idea in some detail in future articles.)

For example, IF I say I am a Christian...what does this mean to you?
And would you say that Jesus Christ was a Christian?
Was Jesus the first Christian?
Or was Jesus...self-identified as a Jew?

And let's keep going with this a bit further---was The Buddha a Buddhist?
Was The Buddha the first Buddhist?
Or was The Buddha a man who observed the rites and beliefs of his time and clan?

And so it goes.
With all great leaders...whether or not you label them as divine beings, Sons of God...or ordinary mortals with excessive and keen insight into the nature of being human...we lavishly label.

So...for some people, at one time or another, Adolf Hitler was (and is) a great man...I mean, a truly great man---a visionary. For some, he was NOT an evil mad-man.

The labels we apply are the thing that capture our version of what is and is NOT of value. For example, IF I asked you to take Donald Trump home with you, and care for him...you might be tempted to do it...because you think he is very wealthy, and is powerful. But IF Mr. Donald Trump was revealed to have no money, that he was bankrupt, and had no money, at all, and did not own any properties, had no income, and was...broke...not even one cent...would you be so keen to take him home and have to listen to his opinions about his opinions?

Would you give him the time of day?
Nobody returns his calls anymore?
He is...ruined.

Donald Trump's Debates: 5 Mental Tricks You Didn't Notice

Under this scenario...not so tempting a brand image to own, is it?

Would anyone pay the slightest bit of attention to Her Royal Highness, The Queen of England...if she was NOT the Queen of England? And was just some...commoner? Without the money, the property...and all the stuff that goes with being Elizabeth? What if she was "just" some old woman, without a penny, living in the street...going around claiming to be The Queen of England...dressed in crappy, smelly, old clothes?

And yet...and yet...each human being is divine...and is royal.
Right?
It's just that the label on the can maybe doesn't have the right "look."
"They" might appear to not be one of "us."
Or one of "you."

To work this in a bit more...into your brain...let's take a look at perceived value of an object. Like...a work of art.
IF you think that the painting was done by, say Van Gogh...and you had some background in the culture of our time...you'd probably think that the painting was worth a lot of money because you know that any painting by Van Gogh will fetch a hefty price...maybe as much as 82 million dollars.

But what if it was the Mona Lisa?
You know...that Mona Lisa?
Well...at today's valuation...oh, just 787 million dollars.

Hmmmm...can you see the next polarity I am going to hit you with?
Maybe you'll see this coming...maybe you won't.
Do you know how many paintings Van Gogh sold during his lifetime?
Two paintings.
And some drawings...just a few drawings.

The one painting he sold in 1890...earned him 400 Belgian Francs, and at that time...that was worth USD$80.00 ---and here is how much that would be in today's American dollars:
The painting in question is called, "The Red Vineyards."
So...how much is it worth in today's world?
Well, nobody really knows...but since Van Gogh's work has sold from 60 million to 140 million dollars...you can assume that this painting would be somewhere in that ballpark...of 60 or more millions of dollars.

Thing is...would you know an original Van Gogh painting if it was put in front of you? I mean, one that wasn't well known...let's go all in on this---a painting of his that was UNKNOWN, unframed, with the canvas rolled up and stored in a derelict house---and you couldn't see the signature of the artist on the painting, and it wasn't labelled?

And for some reason you bothered to unroll the canvas, and put some weights on each of the four corners, to hold the canvas in place...and you stared at the painting...would you know that it was a Van Gogh...and worth millions of dollars?

The average person? Alive on the planet---right now?
Probably not.

Funny, isn't it?
How something can be...so expensive...that was once just another stupid, silly, waste-of-skin, piece-of-shit painting.

And that's what happens to how we value every person, place, creature, thing...unless someone else tells us the value of something...or the worth of an idea---or ideal---we can quickly spurn anything that contradicts our portion of consciousness that we have about...whatever it is we are judging the value...the importance...of.

That is where we can end up in the big trouble of "us" and "them" polarized positions...and we miss the boat completely.

Thing is, I don't like everybody. And I do judge people...and groups of people...the labels that they go by, the labels I slap on them...like, for example---Mr. Donald Trump. I don't like him. I think he is a dangerous person...and that the "group" he is a part of are made up of dangerous people.

Mr. Trump gets my label of "The Dangerous Person."
Oh, don't get me wrong...I covet his wealth.
I don't covet his hair-do.

But this "group" is just a collection of people who will soon enough be dead and gone...and mostly forgotten. And the civilization that they are a part of...the same one that I am a part of...will soon enough be gone.

And this little bubble of time...our civilization...will be given a label by future civilizations...IF there are any "civilizations" that follow our wanton destruction of that which gives us life.

Time will pass, and the judgement of the future will weigh our little blip...all the passions and fears and loves and hatreds and boredoms and strivings and earnings and conquests and, and, and...all of it---measured and valued by some future archaeologists, maybe from another planet.

And what will the final judgement be...I wonder?
How will "we" get labelled?

All the Best!
