Lesson of the Day, 031116, Part Two

by
Robert Farmilo

This is the second part of the Lesson of the Day that started yesterday.

First of all, a bit of a historical review:

The name of God that makes up the thought-construct for this Lesson of the Day might be one that you recognize.
 Yahweh

When you dig into the back-story of this mighty name of God, you will quickly come to see that this name of God was probably co-opted by the Jews, and thus made it's way into the Christian brand...and was corrupted into becoming the word Jehova.

Who cares?
Not too many people, that's for sure.

The following terms are interchangeable:
word-sound, thought-construct, word, sound, sound-word

Hebrew script for Yahweh:

The name of God is made up of four letters and is a tetragrammaton, which means, "...to consist of four letters."

I know that the term tetragrammaton sounds magnificent and mysterious, fit for a quest-epic, but it is just another word describing a simple reality...

...which is...that...

...the four letter word is: YHWH.
And this is the name of God: Yah Weh

This is a theonym, which is a fancy way of saying, "...the proper name of a god..."
(theos=god, and onym=name).

None of this matters when it comes to the practice of this Lesson of the Day.

Here's what you do with this proper name of God:
  • Let your awareness experience the presence of the word
  • When you become aware that you are no longer experiencing the presence of the word, quietly and easily come back to it
  • It may happen that you have the presence of the word along with the presence of other thoughts, and-or awareness of noise, sounds, and other sensory inputs
The main point is NOT to struggle or strain to be with the thought-construct/word. Just let the word-sound come and go...all you do is come back to it when you NOTICE that you are no longer with it.
  • NEVER create a mood to accompany the thought-construct
  • IF you feel feelings that come and go on their own, that's just fine
  • Do NOT associate your awareness with guided imagery when you are experiencing the sound-word
  • IF you experience images that come on their own, that's just fine
  • Just innocently be with the thought-construct, with NO expectation of any particular outcome or result
In this way you are with the word-sound throughout your busy day.
Avoid using the presence of the thought-construct to bully your mind or to drown out the presence of awareness of someone talking to you.

IT is very important to be present when you are performing your duties and being with other people. IT is very natural for you to lose the presence of the thought-construct during moments when you are absorbed in activity, thoughts, feelings, sounds, and so on.

All you have to do is...gently nudge your awareness when you become aware that you are no longer with the thought-construct.

That's it, that's all.

All the Best!
