How To Be A Great Leader---Don't Pander to the Lowest Common Demonator

You might be correcting the spelling of one word in the sub-title of this article, "Demonator." Yeah, of course it is a play on the word, "Denominator." 

But what's really tragic is the main title I've decided to use:

The Innocent Mirror

And, no...that's NOT the name of a truth spilling newspaper or TV news show---or the latest, greatest rock band. It is a term culled from the consciousness movement, coming deep from the heart of Vedanta (Way of Knowing). 

This saying means that the leaders we have...the ones we vote into power---AND the ones who just take power---all of 'em are plain and simply innocent mirrors of the collective consciousness of the people.

Brutal.

AND true, too.

That's why it's tragic?

So...yes...that means Hitler and Stalin and Mao were all creatures of the collective consciousness of the people they ruled. 

Further along with this bracing smash in the face...what it means is that YOU get the leader you deserve. And in mumbo-jumbo-speak, this translates as, "...the people get the leaders they deserve...."

I know that this is tough to swallow...YOU might think that your leaders are force-fed into power by a corrupt system that is completely out of your control or influence. AND that any chance for such as you...to have a positive influence to change the obvious collusion between powerful economic forces AND politicians, bureaucrats, and the upper levels of the super elite...will always be futile.

BUT there it is.
That sense of powerlessness that you might have---from time-to-time.

Sometimes this THING that you feel you cannot change is called, "The System."

The fact is that the entire system represents the collective consciousness and will-power of each and every being on this planet (and also the ongoing momentum of each and every year that has come and gone...including all the people and creatures who have ever grunted and groaned and moaned and hoped and schemed and...have lived and died within those years that have come and gone) --- well, you get the picture.

Welcome to the compulsive power of the Innocent Mirror. When you stare deep into this reflection of yourself...you get an exact picture of why your life is the way it is.

Is the Innocent Mirror like an ordinary mirror?

You know that when you look into a mirror everything you see reflected back to your self is turned around. The image is backwards. 

To discover the effect this has on your perception---why don't you try to read this next sentence?

It does make a difference, doesn't it? BUT this does not mean that the Innocent Mirror turns your consciousness backwards. It does mean that the Innocent Mirror reflects all of your stuff---the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Many people don't like seeing them selves clearly. It is...difficult to really see your own evil traits.

Evil?
What?
Me?

Yes, probably. 
You probably do have some stuff kicking around inside your psyche that is UGLY and mean and nasty and horrible. Just saying. IF you are willing to look deeply, you're gonna find some of the stuff that lets the barrel bombs drop on top of little babies and terrified women and little kids.

Sometimes the maimed and the dead of a conflict-war-battle are called collateral damage. (I always thought of collateral as something the bank asked me for when I went to get a loan.)

In a way, this is how YOUR consciousness is shaped by the use of words and terms that do NOT describe something for what it really is. Sometimes this is called spin.

Are YOU stupid...or what? Because I am gonna SPIN your opinion.

So...what hope do you have? How can you figure out when you are being spun? Think about it a bit. Most of the "truth" that you carry around in your head might just be the collection of facts that have been distorted over time by all the people who have come before you who had swallowed the kool-aid.

IT's all fine and good to think that you are NOT being manipulated by the system...and that your thinking and opinion is not based on a stinky mess of half-truths, parts of the story, out-right lies, and the grievous sin of omission.

An old saying is that the winners get to write the history.

Okay, right now you might be saying, "But Robert-Bob, what the bleep does this have to do with consciousness? And how exactly does any of this make me a great leader?"

When you know how the system works...and how you are made to be who you are---when you are brave enough to face your own internal evil tendencies---and how you are being played like a musical instrument...when you start to really and truly get it...then you can start to deliberately interfere with this very personal interference in the substance of your own thoughts.

In this series, I am going to give you some specific techniques you can begin to use that will deliberately change what's going on in your life---yes, actually change the behaviour of people, creatures, places and things.

Wait a minute buddy! Did you just say something about changing the behaviour of places and things? I get the part about maybe changing the behaviour of people...and maybe creatures (like animals?)---BUT places and things? That's going too far by far, dude.

That's starting to smack of koo-koo bunnies and unicorns and fluffy new-age mumbo-jumbo-gumbo.

Right?

Well, that all depends on you. IF you start putting the simple techniques into regular action in your daily life...I can guarantee that you will be totally freaked-out by the specific and near immediate results you will start to create.

But What About Mummy?

In my case...it was my mother who had this idea that if "we" could get 'em young enough---there might be a chance to help raise healthy, non-neurotic children---who would grow up to be healthy, non-neurotic adults.

I think her version of a healthy person was someone who would set about fulfilling their potential, and discovering the joy and pain of making personal choices, and basically being decent human beings.

This healthy person would be well-balanced emotionally, physically and mentally. Some of the attributes would include a love of music, art, science, and something called "truth."

As the years rolled by...along came an idea called, "The Holistic Model." This concept gives a basic blue-print to help create a happy, healthy, well-balanced human being.

This was definitely something that my mother wanted for her own children...and all the children of the world. She really wanted to make a difference by helping to raise healthy, happy, good kids---and to help heal the wounds of those children who were damaged emotionally and physically by the horror of circumstances beyond their control.

Like nasty, bleeped up parenting.

My mum wanted to help the world by getting kids when they were young enough to really give them a healthy start...and then there might be a chance to change the consciousness.

Even if it was just a little bit of a change.
And in some cases, the kids would become really caused-and-effected into being wonderful creatures.   

Some of the ingredients you will need to help build such a creature?

• Clean, fresh air
• Natural water
• Organic, healthy food (nicely balanced, of course)
• Supportive, loving and nurturing family life
• Rich, diverse learning opportunities
• Inclusive multi-cultural sensitivity
• Healthy role models
• Adventure and challenge
• The chance to make mistakes
• The chance to solve problems
• Peaceful environments (no barrel bombs dropping on little kids)

How Innocent Is YOUR Mirror?

In the alternative universe that YOU live in...notice how for most people the above list is more like a wish-list, and just isn't happening. Sure, some of you might have some items on the list going on...but for the majority of humans there is a compelling set of influences that help to create neurotic and stressed-out beings.

And that is they are not getting regular doses of the ingredients listed in that holistic model chart you just looked at.

That might include you, too.
And why is that so?
Because you just don't bother to do the parts that are inconvenient or require some effort or discipline?
OR maybe you don't have the time or the money or the opportunity.
Perhaps it is a combo-pack of some or all of the above.   

Maybe some where in another alternative universe...there is a planet called Earth where people are immersed in a life of cooperation and sublime, mutual understanding. And the spirit of the collective consciousness is the beating heart of loving other people like you love yourself.

But what if you don't really like yourself very much?
OR love yourself---at all?
What happens when you love others as you love yourself, and because you don't love yourself in a loving way...well, that's the same way you love other people?

These are tough questions to consider in the light of your perfect alternative universe. It is easy enough to have grand ideals spinning on the greased poles of theory. 

This brings us to how laws come into being. The law-makers represent the "collective consciousness" of all the people. Yet there is a brutal, obvious, fact---the few rule the many.

And the golden rule: "Them that got the gold makes the rules."

There is an elite. And the elite does seem to want to cling to power and social advantage. After all---why not?

Once you have a taste of the sweet life...it is almost impossible to want to go back. When you get some REAL money, you will see what I mean. The idea of once again becoming ordinary---middle class or less---will NOT be welcome to you.

This is part of the driving force that impels the questing masses of the so-called Third World from the country side into the urban context. Who would possibly want to live in squalor and rural poverty---scratching out the meanest of livings?   

People want to have more.
YOU want to have more.
And your idea of more isn't necessarily the same as my idea of more.

Let me ask you a question that will help you identify how powerful the impulses inside your consciousness shape what you will do next:

Would you prefer to be sick and weak...or would you prefer to be healthy and strong?
 
This basic drive for more is how you are being gamed by your very own self. And the leaders who come forward from the gasping mass-consciousness intuitively know how to connect with the lowest possible common-demonator.

What happens is that YOUR leaders will wrap themselves up in the flag while holding a holy book of scripture...while pointing at the enemy who threatens YOUR way of life, your freedom, and all that you hold sacred.

And many of YOU will send your sons off to fight for...what? Most of the time it is to kill the sons of other people. And most of all it is to end up killing and maiming and traumatizing children, women, and old people---and destroying the homes of other human beings.

War, poverty, subjugation, objectification...is designed to make you think and feel that "other people" are ONLY "them" and "they," NOT us, and we, and me (you).

IF you enter into a holistic state of consciousness---it is much more likely that you will refuse to go off and fight for your country. 

You see, the greatest weapon you have at your disposal is love. Within this state of awareness, great solutions can come into being. The state of being in love is a very creative and intelligent state of consciousness.

When the many are regularly in a state of being in love...it is very difficult for your leaders to resist the impulse to govern you from a state of being in love, too.

YOU might be getting a bit woozy with this idea of being in love...because you might be thinking it's about being "in love." You know, like falling in love with someone, and then getting married.

Which brings us to the concept---a great truth---that all love is directed towards the self. When the self recognizes "them" and "they" as being in essence the same self as it is...and that it loves this same self as much as it loves itself---AND not as an intellectual exercise...or as a mood-making, feel-good, guided meditation---when this happens, it is a clear and precise transformation of awareness, of consciousness.

The more people who consciously engage with this state of awareness that is real and true...the more this gets inspired within all the other people. There is an effect of growing momentum and traction that generates more and more of this dynamic, infinite vibration of love.

This could be your neighbourhood?

The back-story to this article?
I was thinking about the current Presidential contest in the United States of America...and wondering how Donny J. Trump could get so close to becoming the next President.

And how Hillary Clinton could become the first woman President of the U.S.A.

What is it about the consciousness of the American people that could give birth to two such potential leaders?

And if this idea is true---that your leaders are simply innocent mirrors of the all of you combined---then Donny and Hilly are in fact creatures of all of you...the entire, teaming, seething mass of humanity---NOT just the citizens of America.

What follows is an example of the problem---and the solution.

First, let's use a picture...worth thousands of words:

Like Pogo says, "We have met the enemy, and he is us." 

I've been told that it is more important to state the solution rather than the problem...BUT you have to start by describing the cause of the problem to discover the solution to the fricking problem.

Ignoring the problem is part of the problem. And part of that problem is the sincere and fanatic devotion people have to being willfully ignorant...to the point of celebrating their ignorance.

Being stupid and ignorant is okay---it is exemplified by the reactive force of sticking to your prejuidices, no matter what evidence defies your thinking---such as your thinking might be made up of. 

For example...once the Donny-Hilly race is over...who is going take personal responsibility for the support they gave to Donny? It's like standing up and being proud for your full-out support of Poll Pot.

Who?
Exactly.
IF you ask most people in college in America who won the Civil War---you are going to hear a lot of, "Gee, I don't know...was it America?"

Well of course YOU know, don't you? 
It was...a civil war...a very civil war. People were very civilized in the Civil War. A war of civilians? Right?

Ignorance breeds ignorance, and enlightenment gives birth to enlightenment. The more you lean into this beautiful truth, the more you can intrude and implant YOUR practice of changing your neighbour's consciousness by changing your own.

The regular practice of all the usual spiritual pursuits will create a momentum and traction in your own consciousness that imperils the fall-out from the stupid-bombs that are being dropped on people---on purpose---around this big and little old world of yours. 

You see, some leaders and their acolytes are so invested in the dumbing-down of the sweaty, stupid masses---that when this process is challenged...and tested, the forces of compliance are put in motion. And this is done, on purpose, to force the divisive edge---and return to the dimmed intelligence of suspicion, fear, hatred, meanness, greed and selfishness.

When people are afraid, they are easier to control---and made to do what YOU want. 


This next bit might seem a bit random---but stay with me.
 
Did you know that there is enough food thrown away everyday to feed everyone on the planet? Yes, that food goes in the trash. And it doesn't have to.

Do you know that enough money is spent on war...that IF the money was spent on social care, reducing pollution, investing in quality infra-structure, universal health care, education...and so on---you can easily see where I am going with this.

Scoff! Harumph! Silly, idealistic pandering to the bleeding heart liberals! Just plain pie-in-the sky drooling over utopian dreams.

I am stating a solution. And the facts about how much money is spent on "defense" are true facts. AND you know it is true, too. 

The problem is that mostly nobody wants to be the first person to disband their military. That would leave you extremely vulnerable and at risk of being pushed around by the person who didn't dismantle their military forces.

Doesn't it seem EXTREMELY foolish to beat your swords into plow shares when the other guy is busy making more and sharper swords?

What are you gonna do? Weaponize virtues, and drop love-bombs on people when they come a brawling? Maybe get a love-gun, and shoot the enemy as they come within range? And then watch your enemy fall in love with you, drop their weapons, and come running with bouquets of flowers to give to you?

Stop it! Enough!
Why don't you give me something that will work to change my consciousness...like you promised me way back in this article?
